After enjoying a delicious breakfast at Hotel Collingwood, you’re ready to explore Bournemouth, but there’s so much to do! How on earth do you decide? Here is a comprehensive guide to the perfect day out in Bournemouth:

THE BEACH

No trip to Bournemouth is complete without spending time at the beach. There are several stunning local beaches, a favourite of course being Bournemouth Beach, with its expanse of sand which stretches for miles along the coast, and its amusement-filled pier. For a quieter morning, try Alum Chine Beach, a favourite of dog-walkers. If you’re feeling adventurous, go to Hengistbury Head, where you can enjoy amazing views across the harbour from the top of the headland, and Sandbanks is the place to be if you want to experience coastal glamour.

FOOD BREAK

Wandering around the beach (or swimming in the sea, if it’s hot!) can be exhausting, so what better way to relax than by unwinding in one of Bournemouth’s beachside cafés? The Chineside in Durley Chine is very popular, with a range of food and drinks, as well as a decking area upstairs which offers spectacular views of the coast. The Sandbanks Beach Café is equally lovely, serving tasty homemade food. If you want to walk back into the town centre, the recently opened Cosy Club is a charming lunch spot for those who are partial to a fusion of traditional and industrial décor, with a quirky menu thrown into the mix. For a sit-down meal, try The Noisy Lobster situated on Avon Beach in Mudeford, their speciality being fresh fish and seafood.

WALK IT OFF

Bournemouth is best explored on foot. If you’re on Bournemouth Beach, walk up through the Upper and Lower Gardens to enjoy a stunning array of plants and flowers. In the Gardens, there is something for everyone – play some crazy golf, listen to the live music from the bandstand, or even have a look at the aviary and open-air art gallery.

If you’re at Alum Chine, walk up through the chine to Westbourne – there is a Grade II-listed Victorian arcade with an eclectic array of boutique shops, as well as several lovely restaurants and cafés.

After such a jam-packed day, you’ll deserve a delicious dinner at Hotel Collingwood, and a relaxing evening!
